Sara’s 5!

Sara turned 5 on 7/13. She was very excited when she woke up!

I really wanted to have a “whatever Sara says, goes” type of day, but I ended up having jury duty that day. So we let her open all her birthday presents in the morning and I made her heart-shaped pancakes with pink sprinkles for breakfast.

Clip on braids.

Sisterly love.

We got her two pairs of cute earrings since she always wears the same studs. She loved them! She came right over and gave me the biggest hug and thanked me so genuinely.

Both pairs of earrings were gone in exactly one month….

The only thing she asked for was a Barbie laptop. We have more play laptops then one family needs, but since it was the only thing she wanted, I caved and got her one.

Her favorite outfit.

That night, her besties Arianna and Morgan came over for cake (BEFORE dinner!) and then we went to Chunky’s for dinner and to see the movie Brave.

She said it was the best birthday ever.

A few things about Sara:

Height: 44 inches (75th percentile)

Weight: 42 lbs (75th percentile)

BMI: 17.5

She’s my middle child, the one who is going to give me a run for money, but I love her so!

Happy Birthday Memere!

Although I’m still in update mode with my blog, I felt this post deserved to be moved to the front of the line.  Yesterday was my Memere’s 93rd birthday!

In true Memere fashion, when we got to her house this morning, she had the table filled with snacks for her visitors. This has been the ritual for nearly every Sunday of my 35 years, and I’m sure many years before that. Memere’s kitchen is always open on Sundays for her family and friends. I have such great memories of spending time there, and I’m so greatful that my children have been able to experience this as well.

She’s timeless and funny, beautiful and smart. She still remembers my childhood friends (and their birthdays)!  She nearly always guesses the weight of every newborn and toddler, down to the ounce, but I guess after (please don’t hold me to these numbers, it is my best guess) 13 children, 32 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren, she knows what she is talking about!

We are all truly blessed to have her in our lives. Happy Birthday Memere!

Oh and her skin….beautiful and glowing!

Luke Turns 2!

This feels likes the fastest 2 years of my life.

Against all my wishes, I was not able to keep Luke teeny tiny small. I know they obviously all need to grow up, but it still is so sad that my baby is already two.

He started his day early so I played his birthday song for him on my Kindle as I got breakfast ready.

All 3 kids have the birthday song from Captain Zoom that Brian and I remember as kids! You order the song and it is customized with your kid’s name. It’s a very catchy tune and the kids all love it!

Because Luke’s birthday is 2 weeks before the tax deadline, I don’t have the luxury of taking the day off to spend with him. So I made baseball cupcakes for his class at daycare and we celebrated with the family at night.

With Jiddo, talking on his new phone.

Opening presents with the girls’ help.

This picture is blurry, but I love the excitement on his face!

We had a birthday party for him that weekend with all the grandparents, Aunty Tracey, Aunty Rita, his friend and neighbor Oliver, and the Beaudoin family.

I’m not a big fan of the themed parties for little kids, yet all 3 had Sesame parties for their 2nd birthday. Luke actually like Sesame Street though!

Nana and her girls.

He has already mastered the iPod.

Some Lukey Dukey facts:

He’s a pretty happy kid.

Loves to snuggle and comfort others.

He can hit a fastball like it’s nobody’s business.

Loves new socks, vitamins, and reading truck books.

I have no idea how tall he was or how much he weighed at his 2 year well visit (bad mommy).

He befriends everyone and has to give goodbye hugs to them when they leave.

Doesn’t like getting his hair cut. At all.

Will eat three yogurts a day, more if I let him.

Wants to be outside all the time (I love this!)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Brian!

Brian turned  36 on Thursday 10/13!

Sam worked really hard decorating his card.

He loves his daddy!

No birthday for Brian is complete without ice cream cake.

Samantha turns 6!

Six years ago, as I was picking up the last of my items for Brian’s surprise 30th birthday party on my day off from work, I had the biggest surprise of my life – my water broke while in Home Depot, 3 weeks early!!  Less than four hours later, Samantha Rose was born and changed our lives forever.  Born at 3:44 PM, weighing 6 lbs 2 oz and 18.5 inches long….she was perfect.

Her big gift was a trip to Story Land last weekend.  We let her open 2 presents in the morning since it was pouring out: her new rain boots and rain coat.

She was very excited for her birthday  She announced it to everyone as soon as she got on the bus!  At Moose Hill, she got to go to the Principal’s office and get a birthday crown and pick a book out of the prize box.

She got to choose her birthday dinner – hamburger, french fries, and juice….her favorite.  After dinner, Nana and Papa, Mem and Jiddo, Aunty Rita and Aunty Tracey all came over to celebrate, eat cake, and spoil Sammy!!  She got TONS of clothes, books, savings bonds, roller skates, and two movies (Annie and Spooky Buddies).  We also got her a CD (Now 39, all her favorite songs), black boots, and an umbrella.

I made her 6 mini pancakes for breakfast, but they didn't end up being so "mini" after all and she only got 4.

Making a puzzle with Jiddo.

Chocolate cake with pink frosting, as requested.

The birthday crown was worn all day.

I think she had a really nice day.  She seemed to be genuinely happy!

…and not to take away from Sammy’s day, but 9/29/11 is Luke’s 18 month “birthday” too.

Doing flips with Nana, just like she used to do with Brian.

Luke made sure Jack felt the love too!

Swimming, S’mores and Dad’s Birthday

This past weekend was tiresome, which usually means it was a lot of fun.   Friday morning  I got Sam on the bus and I was able to go through the girls’ closet and purge all of their outgrown clothes before Mom came over.  She wanted to surprise Sam when she got off the bus later in the morning!  The kids played outside with Mem while I got lunch ready.  Then it was time for Luke to nap and my mom took the girls to the playground and to Mack’s.  Since I had almost 2 hours of uninterrupted “bliss,” I busted my butt and got the girls’ bureau cleaned out as well, and managed to scour their room.  It was in desperate need of a good cleaning.  I was able to get some other cleaning done during the day and we had a nice movie night – Toy Story 3 – complete with popcorn!  I was bone tired by the end and couldn’t wait to curl up with a book.  (I’m reading The Help and really enjoying it.)

Saturday morning was the girls’ first swim lessons.  Sam had taken 2 sessions of lessons last year.  Sara took a Mommy and Child class two years ago.  I figured it was time that the girls learned how to swim properly, especially Sammy.  She is in a class of 5 kids who are a little older than she is, but she was able to keep up with them pretty well.  Hopefully this class will teach her the proper technique.  Regardless, she’s getting a great workout!  They swim the length of the big pool at the Workout Club several times in their 30 minute class!

Sara did great as well.  There were only 3 kids in her class, with two instructors.  Her class is the same time as Sam’s, but she’s in the small therapy pool.  She did everything the teachers asked her to do and didn’t appear to have any reservations while in the water.

Sara was very attentive.

I took a bunch of pictures of the girl to the right of Sam before I realized it was the wrong kid!

Brian golfed all day with Jeff and his friend Brian from high school.  They came over afterwards for a cookout and campfire.  The kids had never met Brian before and it took them all of two seconds to warm up to him!  He had them running around the backyard like crazy monkeys!

It was really chilly out.  I’m still in summer mode, it’s very difficult for me to accept the temperature change and how early it gets dark out now.  The one good thing is we can do a campfire earlier in the night and get the kids off to bed!

Sara would eat 20 s'mores if I let her.

Sammy likes hers without chocolate.

It was a late night (for me).  Too bad the kids didn’t decide to sleep in on Sunday.  The good news – my camera is ok.  I put it under my camping chair to clean the s’mores goop off of the kids, and ended up forgetting it there all night.

Sunday was spent relaxing all morning and then we headed down to Mem and Jiddo’s for dad’s 61st birthday!  Aunty Rita and Memere were there and we had a great time!  I spent the first 20 minutes “shopping,” as Sara calls it.  Two or three times a year I have to go through all the clothes that I have stored there and pull out the next size for Sara.  She thinks its great…it’s her favorite store!

Skyping with Uncle Matt and Maya

It was so cute watching Memere!

Dad and his this picture.

Once you're in the 60+ club you get to have TWO cakes.

Luke didn't need any help from Aunty Rita eating his cake. He was good with his fork and his spoon 🙂

Do you think the girls liked the cake?

Then Luke got sassy and stole Memere’s cane.

Luckily, she wasn't using it.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Sara!

Sara turns four today!  We had a great day, she was super excited from the moment she woke up.  I brought a birthday snack into Preschool today for Sara to share with her class – fruit kabobs.  I had such a good time there!  All of the friends were so cute and they just say the funniest things!

We had a dinner of hot dogs, as requested by the birthday girl, followed by chocolate cake with pink frosting and sprinkles.

Now that she's 4, she will actually look at the camera and not make a silly face

Getting ready to blow out the candles.

She opened her presents: a new “purse” lunchbox, Barbie scooter and new helmet.  Then Nana and Papa came over and she got to open even more presents!  She got clothes, shoes, a play picnic basket, new princess beach towel and an inflatable pool complete with slide and waterfall.  She was one lucky duck!

A rare picture of me and Sara!

Her new “purse” lunch box.

Checking out her pearls from Nana.
