First Day of School

Sam was really excited to start 1st grade at South School. A few days before the start of school, the class lists are posted at the school. I find this a little odd. We always knew who our next teacher was on the last day of school.
She found out she was in Mrs. Marquis’ class and had a bunch of friends from kindergarten joining her.

Sara’s classroom placement came in the mail.

She was placed in Mrs. Brulet’s class and was beyond excited that her BFF Ari was going to be there too!

It was down pouring the first day so I got very few pictures.

Sesame Place

We were only home for two days after camping before we took off again on Wednesday morning the 8th to start our trip to Myrtle Beach. We left a day and a half early this year so we can spend a day at Sesame Place in Pennsylvania. We made it to PA by late afternoon and checked in at our hotel, which was right across the street from Sesame Place. The hotel was nice and had a good size pool. We all swam for a while and then went out for dinner.

The next morning we were all ready to go! The kids had no idea we were going to Sesame Place until that morning and were really excited.

Ready for a fun day

Sesame Place was great! They have regular amusement rides AND it’s a water park. It was so hot and humid that day so I was really glad to have the water to keep cool. There was a ton to do and all 3 kids had a blast!

We went camping August 3-5 at Crawford Notch Campground with nine other families. What a blast! The kids had so much fun running around and playing with each other the entire team. Since there were so many of us, we took up a good area at the campsite and they were able to pretty much go where they wanted.

The best part: we stayed in a cabin instead of a tent! This was a first for me and I don’t think I could ever go back! The kids had their own room with bunk beds. There was a fridge and an electrical outlet to plug in the Keurig:)

Home Sweet Home for the weekend.

We spent a lot of time at the river where the kids went “tubing” down a small section of rapids.

On Saturday, we ventured out for a hike with the Riedels, Gorries, and Greens. It was a fairly easy hike, but since I was out of shape, I was still sucking wind. That and I had to carry Luke almost the whole time up and down! But it was well worth it. It was a really clear day and we had great views.

The kids taking a break on the way up.

Love Dana’s face!

Tom and Kristin

Plenty of sugar was had by all.

Hugs after playing beauty salon.

The adults enjoyed themselves too, when the kids went to bed!

Running, kid-style

My poor blog has been neglected for far too long. I am now on a mission to fix that! The posts will be short and sweet, otherwise I could be working on this until New Year’s.

The Greater Derry Track Club held Fun Runs for the kids every week this summer at Londonderry High School. Each kid gets their own number and races are broken down by age and gender. We only made it twice this year, but the kids LOVED it! They have the kids stretch out and get warmed up before the races.

After the races, they offered watermelon and Gatorade. This was a big hit with my kids.

All the kids got ribbons after they finished their races.

Sara’s 5!

Sara turned 5 on 7/13. She was very excited when she woke up!

I really wanted to have a “whatever Sara says, goes” type of day, but I ended up having jury duty that day. So we let her open all her birthday presents in the morning and I made her heart-shaped pancakes with pink sprinkles for breakfast.

Clip on braids.

Sisterly love.

We got her two pairs of cute earrings since she always wears the same studs. She loved them! She came right over and gave me the biggest hug and thanked me so genuinely.

Both pairs of earrings were gone in exactly one month….

The only thing she asked for was a Barbie laptop. We have more play laptops then one family needs, but since it was the only thing she wanted, I caved and got her one.

Her favorite outfit.

That night, her besties Arianna and Morgan came over for cake (BEFORE dinner!) and then we went to Chunky’s for dinner and to see the movie Brave.

She said it was the best birthday ever.

A few things about Sara:

Height: 44 inches (75th percentile)

Weight: 42 lbs (75th percentile)

BMI: 17.5

She’s my middle child, the one who is going to give me a run for money, but I love her so!

I’ve thoroughly been enjoying my 3 day work weeks – Tuesday through Thursday, but 4th of July week I had to work Monday and Tuesday which gave me Wednesday the 4th through the following Monday off! It was like a mini stay-cation!

We did a lot of swimming at the beach and friends’ pools. I don’t tend to take many pictures while all 3 kids are in the water, but I did work up the courage when we had Aunty Sue’s pool to ourselves.

Water bugs.

Holy BIG eyes!

Sara has gotten brave and will now jump in by herself.

Luke was very curious about the butterfly that kept flying over head and then finally landed on the flowers.

Sam’s Last Day of Kindergarten

I’m sure I’ll be writing this for the next 20 years, but man the school year went by fast!

The First Day of Kindergarten and now:

Moving on to 1st grade!
